Amazon.com Product Description
The JBL On Time 200ID loudspeaker dock and clock radio is a revolution in time travel for the iPod. Imagine waking up to your favorite song stored on your iPod. No more buzzer or bad radio reception. The JBL On Time 200ID system is a compact, high-performance time machine and sound center. Connected to your iPod, MP3 player, or other music source, the JBL On Time 200ID system produces clean, powerful sound while providing time-keeping, alarm, and radio features.

The JBL On Time 200ID system produces clean, powerful sound while providing time-keeping, alarm, and radio features.

Combines many proprietary technologies for the highest quality sound, offering astonishing bass and clear sound from any direction.

Compatible with dockable versions of the iPod, including the iPod touch, iPod nano 3G, and iPod classic 6G.

Which Dock Is for You?
JBL's been in the iPod dock business for awhile, so it's no surprise that the company has crafted enough models to keep up with an ever-increasing army of iPod owners. Which one is right for you? Well, that depends what kind of pod person you are:

For the Power Hungry
For those who seek more volume, the On Stage 400ID should be your first stop. At 2x15 Watts, it's the loudest and largest of the bunch, and features an Atlas woofer for added bass. But size isn't everything--the On Stage Micro boasts the same wattage rating without the woofer.

For the Weekend Warriors
Those who need a dock that they can take anywhere should investigate docks that can be powered by batteries. The On Stage Micro runs on four AAAs, whereas the On Stage IIIP and On Stage III run on six. Take your music to the beach, on camping trips--wherever you can't bear to be without it.

For the iPhone Techies
The iPhone owner--if you can stand to put the thing down--has a couple choices. The On Stage IIIP provides a smaller and more portable option, or the On Stage 200ID gives a bit more power. These two docks support all docking iPod models as well.

For the Featurephiles or Heavy Sleepers
Some of us just aren't content with basic functionality; we need more buttons, more lights. Others just need a little nudge to wake up in the morning. If this is you, then the On Time 200ID and 400IHD are for you. Both feature an alarm clock and AM/FM radio, with the ability to wake up to your favorite song stored on your iPod (and then reject it with the snooze button). Of course, for the masochists, a classic buzzer is also available. The On Time 400IHD adds a dual alarm clock and HD radio to the mix, for a crystal-clear signal and a variety of text-based information (artist name, song title, weather alerts, school closings, etc.) scrolled across your screen.

Something for Everyone
All of these models feature a remote control for full iPod navigation, Evercharge topology to charge iPod even when not connected to a PC or the system is turned off, a mini-jack for auxiliary devices, and the sleek design and solid performance you'd expect from JBL.

Compatibility
The JBL On Time 200ID loudspeaker system is compatible with all docking versions of the iPod, including the iPod touch, nano G3 and iPod classic. A stereo mini jack connection also allows you to enjoy high-quality audio from a variety of other devices such as iPod shuffle, MP3 and CD players, desktop computers (all platforms), satellite radio, and laptops. Specific dockable iPod compatibility: iPod mini 1G; iPod nano 1G, 2G, 3G; iPod 3G, 4G, 5G, 5.5G, 6G; iPod touch.

Easy-to-Use Touch Controls
Just a touch increases or decreases the volume. Another touch and you choose iPod, radio or auxiliary. The JBL On Time 200ID system remembers your source and the last volume setting, even after the system shuts down.

Time and Alarm Features
The JBL On Time 200ID system is a revolution in time-keeping. Imagine waking up to your favorite song stored on your iPod. The intuitive user interface allows for all functions to be programmed easily. The navigation buttons provide instant access to the menus. Navigate the intuitive menu to change settings such as language, alarms and snooze. Radio functions (e.g., channel presets) are simple.

Display
The large backlit LCD permits easy viewing and menu navigation. Automatic dimming sets the correct brightness level in any room environment.

Additional Features

  • Evercharge topology--The JBL On Time 200ID companion charges your iPod, even when not connected to the computer or if the system is off.
  • Backup battery--The clock can be supported by 3 AAA backup batteries, so that even with the power out, the alarm function operates.

Advanced Technology
The JBL On Time 200ID system combines many proprietary technologies to provide the highest quality sound, with astonishing bass and clear, accurate sound from any direction.

  • Phoenix and Ridge transducers--The two aluminum-domed, full-range transducers are driven by powerful neodymium magnets. The Ridge tweeter produces accurate high frequencies. This two-way design offers a full, rich frequency response from the lowest bass to the highest highs.
  • COE (Computer-Optimized Equalization)--The JBL On Time 200ID system equalization is computer-optimized, for a rich, complete soundstage.
  • OCT (Optimized Compression Topology)--The proprietary compression technology ensures clean, accurate sound at high output levels.

3 out of 5 stars Decent, but not worth the price   August 3, 2010
M. Thomas
I acquired this product at a very good price - and thank goodness because its really not worth the $200 retail. I replaced an older iHome system with this one. The bass on the iHome was better but I would say that the JBL sound is a little more clearer, more high fidelity (but comes at double the price). As an alarm clock, having the buttons placed at the top of a somewhat tall unit is a bit inconvenient. The clock sits beside the bed and a bit higher so while sleeping, its impossible to see anything. You have to feel your way to the snooze button. If your room is pretty dark at night, this will light it up - which I find very annoying. I just can't see how anyone can sleep next to this brightly lit display, even on its lowest setting. Did anyone from JBL take this home and test it? I thought the iHome was bright but this is ridiculous. I had to put a few layers of window tint on it just to make it useable. It works much better as a nightlight rather than a display... what a disappointment. The bottom line in my opinion is that you can find a clock radio that sounds almost as good but much more ergonomically geared toward a true alarm clock. I think the JBL is probably more suited for use as just a regular radio.

5 out of 5 stars Love It!   June 4, 2010
C. Johnson (Shingle Springs, CA)
I was looking for an iPod dock that was compact but still had good sound for my kitchen. This one is perfect. I was pleasantly surprised at how well the AM/FM radio works as well. I am very pleased with my purchase. Also came fast and very easy to set-up/use.

3 out of 5 stars Fine - nothing spectacular   June 4, 2010
J. Rogers (Philadelphia, PA United States)
This is fine. The buttons and menus aren't quite as intuitive as I think they should be. The remote is pretty worthless.

4 out of 5 stars Works well but a little pricey   February 16, 2010

Kids wanted a speaker dock for their ipods that did not rely soley on batteries.
The built-in clock radio is a bonus for them. They really enjoy having it in their rooms. Works well with different ipods. We have one with an ipod classic and another with a 4th generation ipod nano.
You can find a lot of cheaper speaker docks for ipods, but you get what you pay for. The sound quality and interface with the ipod is generally not good with sub-$100 products.

The JBL speakers produce excellent sound and this device is full of neat features.
The interface with various ipods is rock solid and works well.
Still at about $200 it seems a little pricey to get everything you want in on machine.

2 out of 5 stars Don't think JBL has tested what they manufactured   February 14, 2010

Sound not as good as JBL 400
The fact you cannot set the volume to wake you up is just unbeleivable !!!!!!!!!!
Even though it is mentionned on the userguide...no way you can set it up.
Am thinking to sell it...
